Walking to fundraise: Camino de Santiago

In September 2022, our fellow Wigrower Nicole did a remarkable thing to help our charity raise funds for sustainability projects at Good Shepherd school. She took on a 675 kilometer journey on foot, walking from Lisbon, Portugal all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The journey took her 3 weeks in total and raised us a whopping £4,000! Every single day Nicole was meeting pilgrims, locals, and tourists and every kilometer of her way our message was being spread. In villages, towns, cities and even the middle of nowhere. It was so inspiring to see that Half way through her pilgrimage Nicole decided a challenge was what the fundraiser needed and what people wanted to see. She set out to walk 63 kilometers in one day… Let that sink in for a second. That is the equivalent of 1 and a half marathons, with a 8kg bag on her back. That single day alone raised 700 pounds! The day was not easy at all for Nicole and her perseverance was inspiring to say the least. It reminded us that that is what charity work is really about. Perseverance, resilience and continuous movement forward no matter the struggle or obstacles which we face. We are proud of Nicole and overjoyed at the journey which Wigrow could accompany her on.
